Abinta Kabir Foundation School opens in city

Online Desk | Update:

A new model school of Abinta Kabir Foundation has been opened in the city's Bhatara area, says UNB.

US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat inaugurated the school recently.

"I have to say the foundation and everyone who is working for it, especially Abinta's mom Ruba and everyone is very fortunate because Abinta left this amazing road map of what her dreams were and what she wanted to see done," Bernicat was quoted as saying.

"And maybe in addition to bringing more students it would be really interesting to bring students who are inspired to be teachers here so they could be interns and work with the children," she added.

It was Abinta's passion to spread education among young children, especially those who are unable to afford it.

The foundation also has five schools in Natore, which opened earlier in February this year.

Another school in Bashabo will also start later this month.

Abinta Kabir along with 19 other hostages was killed in a terrorist attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan on 1 July last year.
