Four Bangladesh youths awarded ADB prizes

Essary_AardsThe Asian Development Bank (ADB) awarded four winners of an essay competition celebrating its 50th founding anniversary, in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Toufikul Islam of the electrical and electronic engineering depart of Dhaka University won the first prize worth $500, an ADB news release said.

Arefin Mizan of the mass communication and journalism department at Dhaka University and Tanvir Ahmed of urban and regional planning department at Jahangirnagar University, Savar, won the second and third prizes valued $300 and $200 respectively. Sumaiya Akhter of accounting and information systems department at Jahangirnagar University, received a special prize worth $100.

Hun Kim, director general of ADB’s South Asia department, handed over the prizes to the winners at ADB’s Bangladesh resident mission in Dhaka.

The topic of the essay competition for university students in Bangladesh was “Transforming Bangladesh into a Developed Country by 2041: Role of ADB”.

A total of 113 students participated in the competition.
