Bangladesh a dangerous side: Smith

Prothom Alo English | Update:

Australia`s cricket captain Steve SmithAustralia's cricket captain Steve Smith feels his team's upcoming tour of Bangladesh will be challenging.

Now set to visit Bangladesh after overcoming the uncertainty over pay dispute, Australia team will arrive in Dhaka on 18 August to play two tests.

Steve Smith is cautious in making comments on Mushfiqur Rahim's Bangladesh side.

"They’ve improved significantly over the past couple of years, particularly playing at home, and knocked England off at home in a Test last year," Smith wrote in a colum in foxsports.com.au.

"They’re certainly a dangerous side."

With "only cricket in our mind", the Australia team also fixed his eyes on next the Ashes.

"That’s our two-Test series of Bangladesh in three weeks — but also the big one on the horizon, the Ashes," Smith wrote.

"That starts with Bangladesh, who present a significant challenge for us."

Smith, however, expressed confidence about success in Bangladesh, banking on their experience of playing in similar conditions in India earlier this year.

"It’s going to be challenging but it’s going to be great for this group moving forward to get experience in these conditions and hopefully we’ll come away with a win over there," he added.
