Speedster Mustafizur Rahman struck thrice and Shakib Al Hasan twice in quick succession to rattle the Sri Lanka batting line-up on Saturday as Bangladesh look in control despite a Dimuth Karunaratne century.
The hosts have 190 for 6 now, leading by a paltry 61 runs while the Tigers will be sniffing victory with over four sessions to go in their 100th Test.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz gave Bangladesh the day’s first joy when he bowled Upul Tharanga (26) in the first ball of the day’s second over.
Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis (36) then added 86 in the second wicket before Mustafizur Rahman got the latter caught behind in the last ball of the second over after lunch.
Shortly afterwards, the Satkhira lad removed Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva, both giving catches behind the wicket to Mushfiq while Shakib Al Hasan sent Asela Gunaratne and Niroshan Dickwella packing, and Sri Lanka were down to 190 for 6 from 143 for 1.
Karunaratne is fighting alone, with the batsman contributing 103 to the total 190. he has hit nine fours and a six so far.
