Healthy Bangladesh launched

.Healthy Bangladesh, a new civic platform, has been launched on Saturday with a five-point agenda.

Convener of the new platform and PPRC chairman Hossain Zillur Rahman declared a five-point agenda --school health, clean cities, physical fitness, quality in medical education and rationalising healthcare cost burden, says a press release.

The one-day event began with a civic rally from Bahadur Shah Park where DSCC chief executive officer Khan Mohammad Bilal and PPRC chairman signed a MOU on Healthy Bangladesh.

In a separate event at the LGED auditorium organised by PPRC, over 100 government and non-government medical professionals debated on quality standards of medical education.

In the concluding event, health minister Mohammad Nasim pointed out that many important reform measures in the health sector could not be implemented due to lack of consensus amongst health professionals and bureaucratic hurdles.

National professor Abdul Malik, GK founder Zafrullah, BMDC president Shahidullah, former BMA president Rashide e Mahbub, former health secretary AMM Nasiruddin, pediatric surgeon professor Tahmina Banu, DU dean professor Farid Uddin, mountaineer MA Mohit and Nishat Majumdar, water aid country representative Khairul Islam, CIPRB director Fazlur Rahman and MAB president Abdul Baten were present at the event.
