Ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader said on Friday that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) had not been able to resist the 5 January 2014 polls and will not be able to resist the next elections too.
The AL leader said this when his attention was drawn to a BNP leader’s warning that the people of Bangladesh will resist the next polls if it is held without the BNP and its chairperson.
Also the road transport and bridges minister, Quader made this observation while replying to a question of journalists after inaugurating a three-day Rajshahi Divisional Digital Innovation Fair- 2017 at Rajshahi College playground as chief guest.
“Their [the BNP's] ideology is to ‘accept nothing'. The BNP doesn’t have the strength to resist the court verdict. It is the people who will resist them if they go to resist the court verdict,”Quader said in response to newsmen’s query about the BNP’s warning.
“Bangladesh’s people are with Sheikh Hasina, not with the BNP. They couldn’t resist 5 January polls through arson attacks and killing people. The BNP doesn’t have the strength to resist,” said Quader.
The AL general secretary said a stronger AL will take part in the next polls.
Earlier, addressing the opening session of the digital fair minister, Quader said digital system has happen a silent revolution in the country. The country is gradually being digitized and urged the party leaders and workers to become smart through the best uses of the digital facilities.
